    Description

You are bidding on a computer designed/printed Greytcovers by W.J. Wladyka (USCS #9915) naval cover (design #270)(#5 of 15 ) commemorating the 15th anniversary of the commissioning of the USS Charlotte SSN-766.
USS Charlotte (SSN-766), a Los Angeles-class submarine, is the fourth ship of the United States Navy to be named for Charlotte, North Carolina. The contract to build her was awarded to Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Newport News, Virginia on 6 February 1987 and her keel was laid down on 17 August 1990. She was launched on 3 October 1992 sponsored by Mrs. Mary McComack, and commissioned on 16 September 1994, with Commander Michael Matthews in command. The current Commanding Officer, Commander Timothy J. Yanik, relieved Captain Andrew Miller on May 17, 2016. The Executive Officer is LCDR Anthony Stranges and The Chief of the Boat is ETRCS(SS) Jason Negron.
The cover is cancelled with a well-struck pictorial postmark on 16 Sept. 2009 at Norfolk, VA 23513 and is franked with a 44c Flag stamp.
Overall cover condition is very good. The cover is a standard No. 6-3/4, 3-5/8 x 6-1/2". The blue around the edge is part of the background.
